Preplanning and Prearrangements at Local Funeral Homes
It is suggested that you ask if your loved one has made prepaid arrangements with a funeral home. It might be a good time to review that document in preparation for your planning, perhaps several weeks in advance when possible. You can get a copy from the funeral home.With this information in hand, you are welcome to meet in advance of the death to begin the funeral planning with Father Anthony or Deacon Mike.
Typically, there is a difference between funeral prearrangements and a prepaid funeral. The funeral home can tell you what plan, if any, your loved one has made.
If your loved one has a prepaid plan, it is recommended that you inquire at the funeral home if any additional fees incurred by the funeral home, parish church, or cemetery can be added to the plan. If there is a prepaid arrangement, all additional fees must be submitted to the funeral home director within five business days of the funeral service.- Any overage the parish receives is invested in the parish cemetery endowment in memory of the deceased.

In-Church Funeral Service
Funeral rates for church usage fees and outside service at St. Boniface and St. Meinrad parishes total $800:- $400 for the use of the church, which includes times for visitation and scheduled service
- $400 for outside services includes stipends for the organist, cantor and servers; creating and printing the Mass programs; audio-visual equipment for funeral tribute (created by family); personalized heirloom cross; easels; flower stands; podiums; creating website resource page and email announcement for family, friends and parishioners; and other arrangements.
- Please note: Does not include an honorarium (stipend) for the priest or deacon (sometimes referred to as "clergy gratuity" on funeral home rate schedules).
Cemetery Rates for Traditional Plots and Cremains
Traditional Burial
$800 for a single grave (Effective July 1, 2026: $1,000)
$1,600 for a double grave (traditional burial) (Effective July 1, 2026: $2,000)
Cremains (St. Meinrad Cemetery only)
$300 for a single plot for cremains
Please note: The $300 fee for Cremains burial is for plots located in the Cremains section of St. Meinrad Cemetery. St. Boniface Cemetery does not have a specific cremains-only section. If the cremains are to be buried in standard plots not designated for cremains only in either cemetery, the regular plot price remains in effect.

Bereavement LuncheonA bereavement luncheon may be arranged upon request, to be held immediately after the Rite of Committal and internment at the cemetery.
Please note: If the family wishes to choose an alternative location for a bereavement luncheon, the parish will pay for the cost of the rental of the facility or assist in the cost of catering, up to $300. The meal is to be catered with staff from the vendor, rather than parish volunteers.
