St. Boniface and St. Meinrad parishes have been assigned a seminarian in the Adopt a Seminarian Program sponsored by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Office of Vocations. Seminarian Hayden Merkel is a member of St. Mary Parish in Aurora and is in the Configuration Stage of seminary formation at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. This is an opportunity for our Catholic parishes to build a meaningful relationship with a seminarian and surround him with prayer, encouragement, and support as he discerns and prepares for the priesthood. Here are some ways each parish can participate in the Adopt a Seminarian program:
Pray for your adopted seminarian at Mass, during parish prayer gatherings, and in your personal prayers.
Display a picture of your seminarian in a prominent area of your parish, such as a Social Hall, Narthex, or bulletin board. If you would like a PDF of the seminarian posters, please contact Greg Rader at [email protected].
Send a care package once or twice a year. Parishioners can write letters, send cards, or include snacks and other small items of encouragement. However, seminarians are busy and are expected to devote their time to studies and formation, so they may not be able to respond to every letter they receive.
Distribute prayer cards featuring your adopted seminarian to parishioners. These cards are being provided by the Vocations Office and are included in this mailing.
