St. Boniface Parish Summer Picnic will be August 3, 2025
The annual St. Boniface Parish Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central (10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern) on the church grounds at Fulda. Please mark your calendar to join us on the first Sunday in August as our parish family gathers to celebrate our faith and history in Spencer County since 1847.
The picnic day begins with an opening prayer, followed by the reading of this year’s Honor Roll, recognizing parishioners’ and patrons’ loved ones. Sponsors making a gift at the Patron Level and above will be recognized for their support throughout the day, also viewable is the complete list of picnic sponsors at sbcatholic.church/summer-picnic/.
Parking: Patron parking is available by entering the access road at the intersection of Plum Street and State Road 545, south of the Village Hut. This access road leads patrons to service roads parallel to St. Boniface Cemetery.
Activities:Games and entertainment for all ages will be available throughout the parish grounds. For the family, a Family Fun Center featuring free games and activities.
Bingo: Bingo will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Two cards for 25 cents. Many ways to win! (Indiana Gaming License #002411 Reference #163264)
Fulda’s Famous Soup: Fulda’s Famous Soup will be sold at the shelter house, while supplies last. Soup is $20/gallon. Patrons are encouraged to bring a wagon to carry soup bought by the gallon. To pick up your soup, parking is available by entering at the intersection of SR 545 and Plum Street (south of Village Hut). A volunteer will direct you to the picnic welcome center, located after crossing Memorial Forest Road, and proceed to the parish center. The soup line is located near the basketball goal by the parish center.
Food Court: The food court is located at the shelter house. Menu items and cashiers can be found in the center section along the concrete sidewalk. Items include hamburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, drinks and ice cream. The food court will begin serving food at 9:30 a.m.
Dinners Available for Dine In or Carryout: Fried chicken or roast beef dinners with all the trimmings will be served in the parish center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Patrons are invited to enjoy indoor and outdoor dining throughout the day. Carryout is also available.
Kountry Kitchen: The Kountry Kitchen will feature homemade bread, rolls, muffins, cakes, pies, cookies, coffee cakes, snacks, salsa, jellies, jams, relishes, vegetables and plants for sale, while supplies last.
Theme Baskets: Dozens of theme baskets will be available. Quilts Made by Local Artisans:Other activities feature more than a dozen handmade quilts from parishioners and local artisans. Handmade quilts will be available for direct purchase 30 minutes before the picnic begins, from 9 to 9:30 a.m., for $600 each. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted. Purchase excludes items featured at the special quilt stand.
Live Music: Featured will be Sweetwater Band, who will perform from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Church Tours: Tours of the historic church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will be offered throughout the day. Tour guides will be available in the church to lead tours as groups gather and to answer questions. Guides will welcome guests during the concert while the tours are paused. Organ Concert: An organ concert by Nolan Snyder, a graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, will begin at noon. The performance will include pieces by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, William Mathias, and more. The oak case organ features 10 ranks, 535 pipes, two manuals with 58 keys, and pedals with 25 keys, built and installed in 1898 by Edmund Giesecke of Evansville, IN.
Raffle Drawings: The picnic will conclude with raffle drawings. You must be at least 18 years old to enter the drawings, and you need not be present to win. Cash prizes will be mailed within 10 business days. Non-cash prizes can be picked up on picnic day or at the Parish Center by appointment. No prizes are available for pickup at the Parish Office.
Handicap Parking: Located on the north side of the church and by entering the access road at the intersection of Plum Street and State Road 545, south of the Village Hut. Courtesy benches are available for patrons to safely wait while their driver is parking. Handicap-accessible seating is available at all indoor and outdoor dining locations.
Shuttle Services and Greeters: Shuttle service is available at all parking locations. Volunteers can contact the shuttle service to pick you up from your vehicle location. To return to the parking lot, visit the covered pickup station near the welcome center or the handicap-accessible station on the north side of the church. Seating is available at both pickup stations.
Restrooms: Restrooms and handwashing stations are located in a shaded area near the Parish Center. Restrooms are also available in the Parish Center and Historic Church.
First Aid and Lost and Found: The First Aid and Lost and Found stations are located at the welcome center.
