World Mission Sunday Annual Appeal is October 19, 2025
Join our brothers and sisters throughout the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on Sunday, October 19, 2025, by supporting the annual appeal for World Mission Sunday. Please offer your prayerful, vocal and financial support.
At Mass that weekend, we recommit ourselves to our common vocation, through Baptism, to be missionaries, participation in the Eucharist, and by giving generously to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Every parishioner is a missionary, sharing our love for Christ’s Gospel with one another, supporting the Church most in need.
For World Mission Day in the Jubilee Year 2025, the central message of which is hope, Pope Leo has chosen the motto: “Missionaries of Hope Among all Peoples.” It reminds individual Christians and the entire Church, the community of the baptized, of our fundamental vocation to be, in the footsteps of Christ, messengers and builders of hope.
"Dear sisters and brothers, let us turn to Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ our hope. To her we entrust our prayer for this Jubilee and for the years yet to come: May the light of Christian hope illumine every man and woman, as a message of God’s love addressed to all! And may the Church bear faithful witness to this message in every part of the world!”
In 1926 Pope Pius XI instituted Mission Sunday for the whole Church with the first worldwide Mission Sunday collection taking place in October 1927. The Mission Sunday collection is always taken on the next to last Sunday of October. That day is celebrated in all the local Churches as the feast of catholicity and universal solidarity so Christians the world over will recognize their common responsibility with regard to the evangelization of the world.
Pope Leo invites the entire Church to support mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve the world’s most vulnerable communities. Please keep the Pope’s missions in your prayers and be generous in this annual collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
